Complete Crawl Space Protection for a Cleaner, Healthier Home in Delta
Challenge
The crawl space needed improvements to address moisture, air leakage, insulation, and overall cleanliness. Loose debris and spider webs were present, and the wood surfaces also required treatment to help control mould and create a healthier environment.
Without proper moisture protection and insulation, crawl spaces can become damp, uncomfortable, and more vulnerable to mould growth and energy loss.
Solution
The team began by cleaning the crawl space, wiping down heating ducts and sewer lines, removing spider webs, and clearing loose debris from the floor.
A drainage layer was then installed across the crawl space floor and extended up the foundation walls to help manage ground moisture and provide added durability. A protective moisture barrier was installed over the area and carefully sealed around the foundation walls, footings, and support piers.
New insulation was added along the foundation walls and rim joist areas, with seams and gaps sealed to help reduce drafts and improve energy efficiency. The wood and other organic surfaces were also treated with a mould-control solution to help create a cleaner and healthier crawl space.
The completed space is now cleaner, drier, better insulated, and better protected against moisture, mould, and energy loss.
