Complete Crawl Space Renewal for Lasting Protection
Challenge
The crawl space needed a full improvement to address moisture concerns, poor insulation, general debris, and areas where rodents could potentially enter. Spider webs, loose materials, and signs of rodent activity were present, while the existing conditions also left the space exposed to ground moisture, drafts, and unnecessary energy loss.
The objective was to turn the area into a cleaner, drier, better-sealed space that would offer more reliable long-term protection for the home.
Solution
The project started with a thorough crawl space cleaning. Heating ducts and sewer lines were wiped down, spider webs and loose debris were removed, and affected concrete surfaces were treated to help sanitize areas impacted by rodent activity.
Next, a durable encapsulation system was installed and carefully sealed along the foundation walls, footings, and support piers. A drainage layer was added beneath the liner to help manage ground moisture and improve long-term durability.
New insulation was also installed along the foundation walls and rim joist areas, with seams and gaps sealed to help limit drafts and improve energy efficiency. To complete the project, the team installed a new insulated crawl space door and added wire mesh in vulnerable areas to help reduce the chance of future rodent entry.
The crawl space is now cleaner, drier, better insulated, and more secure, helping protect the home against moisture, pests, and energy loss for years to come.
